St. James Orthodox Church is located in Buford, Georgia, in the northeast metropolitan Atlanta area, serving all of north and northeast Georgia. Founded in 2013, we are a quickly growing mission of the Antiochian Orthodox Christian Archdiocese of North America. Our services are family-friendly and are celebrated in English.
Our parish is more than just a place where people come to worship the living God (although it is first and foremost that!). St. James is a vibrant and exceptionally friendly faith community of people of all ages who are working out their salvation together and raising their families in accordance with the commandments of Our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ, following the sacred norms for spiritual life of the ancient Holy Eastern Orthodox Church.
Our congregants journeyed to the Orthodox Church from many other Christian and non-Christian traditions, as well as being "born" into the faith, yet all are seeking a depth of spiritual richness and continuity of worship and faith that stretches 2000 years through the centuries. We do not seek to be entertained, but instructed. We do not ask what the Church can do for us, but to worship the Great "I AM", our Lord Jesus Christ, in the same manner as the early Christians, simply because He is God.
We are always honored to have visitors join us for prayer and worship, and encourage you to visit and to discover for yourself the enduring appeal of the fullness of the Church as found in the Eastern Orthodox faith.
"Come and see." (John 1:46)
